9th Anniversary Graduation Ceremony cum Dedication of the new Music Block

The school's10th Anniversary Graduation Ceremony for Forms 6 and GCE A2 students was held on 22nd June. The Right Rev. Louis Tsan-sang Tsui, Bishop of the Diocese of Eastern Kowloon, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, the Honourable Mr. Lam Woon Kwong, GBS JP, Convenor of the Executive Council, HKSAR and Mr. David Wong, President of YMCA of Hong Kong were the Guests-of-Honour. Mr. Doug Oxley, Dr. Alice Yuk, JP, respectively the Chairman and Supervisor of the School Management Committee; Mr. Edwin Ho, Chairman of the Alumni Association of the school; Mr. Dion Chen, Acting Principal, and SMC members Dr. Aldrin Leung, Mrs. Sheila Chuang, Mr. Benjamin Lam and Ms. Julia Ong were the platform party.

After Mr. Doug Oxley, MH, said a prayer thanking our Lord for all His provision and blessings, Dr. Yuk, JP welcomed and introduced our Guests of Honour. Our Acting Principal, Mr. Dion Chen, shared the school scripture with all graduates, encouraging them to put their trust in God and live their lives in full. He ended his speech also with a scripture verse emphasizing that the school has tried to teach and lead the graduates to live in a life that is right, pure and beautiful. This scripture says, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it," Proverbs, chaper 22, verse 6.

The Hon. Mr. Lam Woon Kwong, GBS, JP, spoke and presented certificates and awards to graduates. In his speech, he quoted the great futurologist, Alvin Toffler, who pointed out that in this generation, especially for graduates, it would be important “to learn, to unlearn and to relearn”. He further explained to the graduates the more important attitude and actions that they should take, that “You have got to think about the big things while you are doing the small things, so that all small things go in the right direction.” These messages give inspiration not just to our graduates, but also to our teachers and the audience.

Students also celebrated this joyful event with music performances, including the praise band performance, choir, orchestra ensemble, and a team of students playing the drums in leading the guests out of the hall in the recession.

After the Graduation Ceremony, guests, teachers, parents and students were escorted to the Ground Floor Canteen and Music Block areas to officially open the Music Block with a Dedication Ceremony. A plaque was unveiled on the wall at the door of the Music Block to signify that the Music Block and Promenade are for the glory of God, and that His blessings will flow through all use and enjoy.

The ceremonies ended on a joyous note with guests, parents, teachers and students taking full advantage of the refreshments afterwards.

Besides the graduates and teachers, the ceremonies were well-attended by more than 400 parents and friends.
