Workshop with DJ N!itro
On 23rd November, 2017, the Music Society invited DJ N!itro to run a workshop in school, with an objective to provide students with an opportunity to learn how to mix music tracks with a controller connected to computer software. Our guest was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Canada, with great passion in a wide range of music genres. He has performed in various events including the AIA Great European Carnival. He is currently teaching at Soda Mix DJ School.
A small class workshop with 17 students was held so as to allocate more time to individual practice. After an awe-inspiring demonstration, the students were divided into smaller groups to mix and record music. All the students were keen to interact with DJ N!itro and explore various functions and special sound effects. They even managed to record their first mix after trial and error by the end of the workshop.
Lastly, DJ N!itro shared his path of becoming an amateur DJ. After the workshop, some participants submitted samples of their final products, to be considered as the DJ for the Music Contest final on 29th March, 2018. Joshua Baradas (4K) won in the selection. We are looking forward to appreciate his music mix!
