Music Contest
Music Contest was a half-year event, with Preliminary in November, Semi-final in December 2017 and finally the Finals in March 2018. Contestants sang their hearts out and gave truly impressive performances in the category of solo, group, instrumental and band. The four House continued to amaze the audience with their cleverly arranged mash-ups and fascinating choreography. All of these would not be possible without continuous practice. Their perseverance and burning passion in music were reflected when they were shining like stars on stage.
The adjudicators were Ms Jessica Ng, a professional opera singer, Ms Anne Whitmam and Ms Lorraine Chow. In addition, the audience voted for their favourite contestant per category for the Audience Choice Award.
There were two new elements this year. Firstly, the talent of DJing was showcased to provide live music mix throughout the contest. Back in November, the Music Department had invited DJ N!tro to run a workshop on mixing music. Afterwards, some participants submitted their samples and Joshua Baradas (4K) was selected. The live DJ performance certainly added icing to the cake.
Moreover, , a music group from Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College was invited as guest performers. Earlier in the month, Genesix, our singing group, was invited to perform at their school music contest. We look forward to more exchanges with other schools in the future.
