Putonghua Immersion Programme
During the Easter Holiday from 30th March to 2nd April, 11 students with 2 teachers went to Fo Shan China for an Immersion Programme organized by the Chinese and Chinese History Department. Our students were all warmly welcomed by the students and teachers of Shimen Middle School.
Pairing up with buddies from Shimen Middle School, our students experienced diverse learning programmes such as Chinese Painting, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese style paper cutting, Ku Fu, Dancing lessons and so on. Our students were offered a chance to experience and understand the cultural differences between Fo Shan and Hong Kong and also got a better understanding about the education system there. Moreover, the programme enabled our students to build up a strong bonding with their buddies as they spent time with one another for days. It also provided an authentic situation to practise their language proficiency since they communicated with one another in both Mandarin and English.
Tears of joys filled the Farewell Ceremony. The programme enhanced students’ motivation to learn and widened their horizon. All students are looking forward to the next Immersion Programme.
