Back to School Night
This year, Back to School Night for parents of students in Forms 1 – 3 was held on 14th September, immediately after the PTA Annual General Meeting.
The PTA AGM commenced at 6:00 p.m. in the school hall. Ms. Jasmine Chong, Vice- Chairperson of the PTA Executive Committee, presented the PTA Annual Report and Mr. Jocelyn Gagnon, the second Treasurer, presented the PTA Financial Report for the 2017-2018 school year. Seven new parents were elected to the PTA Executive Committee. They are, Mr. Mihir Shah, Ms. Serena Sank, Ms. Coco Chou, Mr. Michael Johnson, Ms. Bee Lui, Mr. Standy Chan and Ms. Jasmine Chong. In addition, Ms. Bee Lui was elected the Parent Manager of the School Management Committee (SMC). Please join us in congratulating the above parents and continue to support the PTA events this year!
The Back to School Night kicked off after the refreshments were served. The Principal, Mr. Dion Chen, reiterated the five core values of the school and explained the new CARES principles incorporating the 14 intellectual character dispositions which the school aims to develop. Mr. Chen was also proud to share the outstanding achievements in the recent public examination results.
Parents then attended a series of nine 10-minute lessons to gain a taste of the daily learning experiences of their children. During each lesson teachers shared their expectations for the year, explained how their subject was taught and gave suggestions on the support parents should be given to facilitate learning at home. Positive feedback was received from parents for the opportunity to meet the subject and class teachers at the beginning of the school year to strengthen home-school communication.
