Art Trip
On 15th May, Ms.Simonsen and Ms.King along with 14 Form 4 and 5 art students visited the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre in Hong Kong Park.
The highlight of the trip was experiencing an audio/visual immersive art installation at the lecture theatre. The piece is a site-specific work by a local artist, Mr. Choi Sai Ho, whom afterwards we had the pleasure of meeting. He talked us through his process of exploring space and planets through moving images and sound. Mr. Choi is an electronic musician in addition to being a visual artist and he has also collaborated with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Clockenflap music festival. He even had his audio work selected by the Sonar Calling GJ273b project aimed at sending messages 12.4 light years away in search of extra-terrestrial intelligence.
It will take 20 years for the piece to arrive at its destination, due to being light years away! Meeting Mr. Choi was fascinating and inspiring, it was definitely a great experience for the students.
