Watoto Concert
Watoto Children’s Choirs have travelled internationally since 1994 as ambassadors to raise awareness about the plight of the orphaned and vulnerable children of Africa. Accompanied by a team of adults, the choir presents Watoto’s vision and mission through their stories, music and dance. This year we are very honored to have the Watoto Choir visit our school for the second consecutive year and host a special assembly as well as a full night concert on 27th November for the school and the Tung Chung community.
This year a total of 16 children and 10 adults from the Watoto Children’s Choirs came from Uganda to YHKCC for the concert themed ‘We will Go’. During the assembly, the choir performed several worship songs and initiated interactive activities with our teachers and students. The children representatives shared their difficulties and how God had changed his life with us. The full night concert was attended by more than 200 guests, families and friends from the community. YHKCC students also had an opportunity to interact with them through lunch and helped out as student volunteers in the night event.
To raise money for Watoto, a Casual Dress Day was held on the same day where students dressed in black, yellow and red to represent the colors of the Ugandan flag. A total of HK$17,357.2 was raised.
We would like to express sincere gratitude to all donors for their support. We wish Watoto Children's Choir every success in their future endeavors.
