YHKCC-OIWA Elder Academy Inauguration Ceremony
A solemn inauguration ceremony with brilliant performances was held to celebrate the establishment of the YHKCC - OIWA Elder Academy on 7th December. With a full house of over 400 guests, the elderly, friends, teachers and students attended in the Trinity Hall to join the meaningful moments.
The ceremony was kicked off by the Chinese drum performance followed by African drum procession with the stage party including Ms. Leung Tin Yee, Christy, the Assistant District officer (Islands), Home Affairs Department, Ms. Chau Chuen Heung, SBS, MH, JP, chairman of OIWA, Mr. Chan How Chi, MH, the chairman of Elder Academy Development Foundation and also our Principal, Mr. Dion Chen.
Appointment certificates were also presented to the first Steering committee in recognition of their endeavor to promote, organize and execute activities for the academy in the year ahead. The committee was formed by representatives from OIWA and our teachers and students led by Ms. Chau and Mr. Dion Chen. All the participants enjoyed the fantastic Nepalese and Indian dance by our students and also the sign language performed by OIWA representatives.
The even ended with Christmas carol singing along with the giving out of goodie bags by the stage party and the community service club members. Over 200 goodie bags were given out to the elderly and needy families to bring them love and blessings, building a caring community.
It was a blessing morning filled with love and care. We strive to provide a great variety of activities to the elderly with more learning platforms, enabling them to pursue a healthy and active retirement life through lifelong learning and enhance inter-generational harmony in the school setting.
