International Night 2009
International Night 2009 was held at our campus on 12 December 2009. More than 1,500 parents, students and guests attended the event to celebrate and experience the cultural diversity of the school’s community. This successful annual event continues to grow in popularity. Parents, students and teachers showed pride in their own countries by wearing their traditional costumes. An International food buffet and a “variety show” were the highlights of the evening.
Students and parents prepared an amazing variety of food including Chinese dim-sum and other Chinese dishes, roasted and barbecue food, Italian pizza, green salads, American style hotdogs, baguettes, croissants, Japanese sushi, Korean food, curry rice, Christmas cake, turkey, cheese cakes, muffins, pancakes, cookies and various kinds of dessert all served buffet-style.
After the wonderful buffet meal, the participants boarded the YMCA cruise line and enjoyed a fun night of performances featuring martial arts acts including Chinese Kung Fu and Taekwondo; dances from India, Africa, the USA, and Mexico; music and drama performances by the Orchestra and Theatre Arts Club; and a mesmerizing Rock performance by Dr. Nick Miller, the school Principal.
Dr. Nick Miller, the Principal, shared his joy with the students, parents and teachers in this cross-cultural event. He said he was inspired by the enthusiasm and tremendous effort of the students, parents and teachers leading to the greatest success of the show. International Night has been held for several years because of the great support from students and parents. He believed that it was not only a celebration party, but an opportunity for students to share the cultural diversity of their international study environment.
