"Care, Love, Harmony and Unity" YHKCC Charity Concert in Support of Japan Relief Efforts

Students and teachers from YHKCC are banding together to raise funds for the reconstruction of Japan after the devastating earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plant leaks with a special concert event, “A Charity Concert for Japan” under the motto of Care, Love, Harmony and Unity on Monday, 9 May 2011 in the school hall of YHKCC.  The concert was a huge success with a record number of over 500 audiences coming and having fun.  It was the second student-initiated charity event in aid to Japan earthquake victims and the school is continuing extending their love to Japan.

The packed two-hour concert held in the school hall and students from strings ensemble team, pop orchestra team, rock band, assembly stage band, school choir and instrumental music classes showcased a heartfelt performance.  With support from their teachers, students performed their debut concert successfully.  The tantalizing concert was the students’ own initiative in all aspects of musical production, ranging from selection of the music, to composition and choreographing.

Dr Nick Miller, Principal of YHKCC, expressed his gratitude and thanks, said, “We would like to thank everyone from the entire school community and everyone involved in this concert for their wonderful contribution in aid to the Japan earthquake victims.  We are also incredibly grateful to the outpouring of support and love that our students have delivered tonight.  We wish to express, through our love and care, that in spirit, we are with the people in Japan.”

With the generous support from all, the charity concert raised a remarkable HK$10,000, and all proceeds will go to the YMCA of Hong Kong, for the Japan earthquake relief.
