The 5th Annual Swimming Gala 2010-2011
Early in the morning of 20 May 2011, the entire school of YHKCC gathered at the Tsing Yi Swimming Pool to participate in their 5th Annual Swimming Gala 2010-2011, which was one of the most anticipated and important sports events of the school year. It was a hot and sunny day filled with excitement, exhibitions of strength and fun for students, teachers and parents.
Over the past few weeks, our students have been practicing for the gala in their swimming classes and they demonstrated their strength, style and speed throughout the entire event. A total of 23 school records were broken including an Inter-school record by Jason Chu of F.4C (New record: 33”24) in the Boys Grade B 50M Breast Stroke. Congratulations to all our record holders!
The final and most exciting event was the inter-house relay which saw competitive spirits creating big waves in the pool. Competitors swam like dolphins with their bodies kicked and paddled as the audience cheered. The cheering teams of the four houses tried their best in cheering and creating spectacular slogans and songs for their swimmers. The event boosted the morale of the four houses and enhanced their sense of belonging towards the school.
The Closing Ceremony began with words of appreciation and encouragement from our Principal, Dr. Nick Miller, and was followed by a speech from our guest of honour, our school manager, Dr. Robert Lam. Students who have participated in the competitions stood proudly on the spectator stand amidst loud applauses from their peers. When it was announced that Chambers House was the overall house champion with the highest points earned, the whole stadium came to hysterical jeers and cheers.
