Sports Night 2011
The School’s Sports Night 2011 was held on 30 June 2011 in School Hall successfully. It aims at promoting and developing sports in the school with a whole-school approach, and most importantly, it is to recognize students’ achievement and participation in sports during this year. We had over 200 people attending the event and passed out over 200 awards to all the sports teams, including cheerleading, taekwondo athletics & cross-country, table tennis, handball, rugby hockey and baseball, etc. Mrs. Elizabeth Iafeta, member of the Hong Kong Rugby National Women’s Team, was our Guest-of-Honor.
Our Principal, Dr. Miller, shared his joy and happiness with the students and their parents in this remarkable occasion. He emphasized that he was proud of the achievement and the spirit of sportsmanship of all players. Speaking at the opening address, Dr. Miller said, “This year has been a fruitful year for our school with notable achievement in sports. Our school is a unique school in Hong Kong providing all-round education and whole-person development to students. We are a school that believes in sports and we are not just concentrating on academic performance only. Sports teach us teamwork, hard work and sacrifice. It also helps us build character and bring us to be a great person. These are important elements that we need to be succeed in life. I would like to take his opportunity to thank all our students for making it such an awesome and fruitful year.”
Mrs. Elizabeth Iafeta, a notable member of the Hong Kong Rugby National Women’s Team, was there to speak and present awards to the students. In her speech, she spoke of her experience as a rugby player in Hong Kong, and how she became a professional rugby player by setting self goals. She believes that everything can be achieved if a goal is being set and talent can also be unleashed. She also encouraged our students not to be affected by other people’s opinions and prejudices easily because they will only limit our abilities and potential.
Students also celebrated the evening with Phoenix cheerleading performance, taekwondo performance and singing.
