Music Concert 2012 - A night to remember

YHKCC hosted its long awaited Music Concert on Wednesday evening with an theme of “Raising Awareness of Poverty”.  The school hall was packed to capacity as YHKCC students prepared for the entertainment to embark on the stage.

The concert was held in response to the humanitarian services, “Friends of Qinghai Children Programme” organized by the Christian Action.  Since 1998, Christian Action have been co-managing three children’s homes, in which they care for abandoned and disabled children.  More than 800 orphans have benefited from foster care services, medical and surgical treatment, education grants and pre-vocational training.  Proceeds of the concert went to the Christian Action and on the evening, the Music Concert raised an amount over HK$16,000.

Wednesday night was indeed a night for the YHKCC musicians, dancers and actors to showcase their talents.  And, talent was what the audience got.  A wealth of music and dance kicked off the first half of the show with songs depicting “Food, Glorious Food” and dance acts by student singers and Theatre Arts students.  Character and flair were displayed in the bands which sang and played a variety of musical instruments including the flute, harpsichord, acoustic guitar, saxophone and piano, to name a few.

From classical music to jazz, from dance to pop music and more - this special charity show truly has something for everyone.  The audience was impressed by the voices, emotion and timeless songs such as Money (That’s what I want), Who will buy, Imagine, What a wonderful world, Wavin’ Flag and many more...This heart-warming concert was an unforgettable evening to everyone.

Ms. Arming Leung, Project Officer of the Christian Action said the concert had been a credit to the entire school community of YHKCC and a tribute to the orphans in Qinghai province.  “With this concert we hope to raise awareness of poverty and money to benefit the orphans in Qinghai and those who love them while joining together for a night of powerful music and dance for the soul.”

Mr. Dion Chen, Acting Principal of YHKCC, expressed his gratitude and thanks to everyone, said, “We would like to thank everyone from YHKCC and everyone involved in this concert for their wonderful contribution, as well as the excellent and talented musicians who performed so well.  We are also incredibly grateful to the outpouring of support and love that our students have delivered tonight.  We wish to express, through love and care, that in spirit, we are with the children in Qinghai.”

Being a responsible global citizen is one of our core values at YHKCC, we have always taken action to help those people in need around the world.  Today, YHKCC students are putting into action our value of Responsible Global Citizenship by making differences for many orphans in Qinghai.
