Physics Corner: “Phunky Physics Challenge”

On 13th March, the Physics Club has organised series of interesting and fascinating physics activities for the students.

  • The Marble Shooter Challenge

Students were asked how a marble can be rolled along a flat horizontal track to knock down a pop can 4m away (using only some ball bearings and some magnets and without pushing it).  They tried different methods/suggestions.  With the guidance of the Physics teachers, students were asked to explain their observations.

  • A small gift was awarded to Aidan Simmons (3K) who came up with a solution and explanation.
  •  Balloon Racer Challenge

Students were registered their teams of up to 3 people and with a maximum of 10 teams.  They were asked to use only recyclable materials (e.g., paper, plastic bottles, CDs, cans, etc.) and each team has to build a balloon-powered racer that can travel the greatest distance.

A small gift was given to each member of the winning team, consisting of Ali Imran (3C) and Enrique Ponce (3M).  Congratulations!
