Music Exchange with Kazakhstani and Australian Visitors

On 16th April morning, we were honoured to have 70 music students and staff from Haileybury Astana School from Kazakhstan and Willoughby Girls High School from Australia to join us in an exchange concert. As the host, we firstly presented a variety of performances by the YHKCC Beat Club, Chinese Instrumental Ensemble, Choir, Orchestra, String Ensemble, Band and Sound People. Well done to our musicians who had put great efforts in the rehearsals and performed to such a high standard.

Then, Willoughby Girls High School’s Wind Orchestra performed some wonderful repertoire, even incorporating paper-tearing sound and amplifiers. There was also a chamber strings ensemble. It was truly an inspirational performance.

Lastly, Haileybury Astana School introduced their amazing traditional music and instruments. Their conductor taught us how to sing  one of their folk songs. In the end, the three schools jointly performed the grand finale, and all students were happily engaged in performing, singing and dancing the traditional routine.

We would like to thank our guests to enable this enjoyable and educational music exchange. In addition, we greatly appreciated the souvenirs from the two schools and especially the Kazakh hat!
