Careers & Higher Education Conference 2014
A 3-day Careers & Higher Education Conference was successfully held from Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th October. The purpose of the conference was to provide all Form 6 students with further information about options for higher education and careers to help students make more informed and concrete decisions for the future.
The theme for the first day of the conference was ‘Exploring Careers’. Professionals from the aviation, fashion design, engineering, veterinary medicine, hospitality and flying industries were invited to share first-hand information about the nature of the career and what their job entailed on a daily basis. At the end of each seminar, students had an opportunity to ask questions.
On the second day, the theme was ‘Pursuing Higher Education’. Speakers from both local and overseas educational institutions were invited to introduce the institution they represented and share pertinent information relating to study choices, entrance requirements and application procedures.
The final day of the conference was focused on ‘Moving Forward’. We were pleased to welcome a number of alumni back to the school to share their own experiences at university. It was a valuable chance for students to learn and ask alumni questions about their first-hand experiences. The second session consisted of various practical workshops to enable students to move forward with their university applications.
Form 6 students made good use of the opportunities presented over the 3 days of the conference to collect as much information as possible about furthering their education and devising a career plan.
