F.3 Life-Wide Learning Camp 2014-2015

On 21st October 2014, 160 F. 3 students started the expedition from YHKCC campus to the Life-Wide Learning Camp site at Hoi Ha Wan, Sai Kung. Students went through a 3-day/2-night wild camp experience there.

Upon arrival at the Hoi Ha Wan, the first thing we did was snorkeling! This was a challenging activity that involved shallow diving with basic equipment along the coastline of Hoi Ha Wan – a marine conservation area in Hong Kong with significant biodiversity.  Students learnt to use the diving mask, snorkel and safety equipment, then practiced necessary skills before carrying out the actual snorkeling. It was really an exciting experience as students had a chance to look at numerous kinds of coral and various marine fish!

In addition, students participated in a range of wild camp programmes in the three days. Students and teachers took turns to experience wild cooking at the campsite. It was a great time for students to learn to take care of themselves independently as they were required to set fire and cook their own meals with very simple cooking sets.

By taking part in the Life-Wide Leaning camp, students were challenged to go beyond their comfort zone and learn to be more independent. Students demonstrated incredible endurance and resilience over the three-day camp. It was such a rewarding experience that they developed a more grateful heart towards what they have now at home and at school.
