51st Hong Kong Schools' Dance Festival
Our school's Modern Dance Team, Chinese Dance Duet and Jazz and Hip Hop Team competed in the 51st Hong Kong Schools' Dance Festivalat Tuen Mun Town Hall, Tai Po Civic Centre and Yuen Long Theatre respectively in January. The first two teams were awarded the Commended Award while the Jazz and Hip Hop Team was awarded the Highly Commended Award.
This is the first year that our school has sent out a Chinese Dance Team (Duet). Both students are highly talented dancers and were commended in their contemporary effort in choreography.
The adjudicators praised our Modern Dance Team being a group of potential dancers who danced with energy and passion. Most of the members in our team are amateurish dancers, and was their first ever dance performance. We applaud them for their courage and dedication.
As for our Jazz and Hip Hop Team, the adjudicators praised the energy, enthusiasm and power our students had on stage. The team clearly enjoyed the performance and the audience responded really well to their dance. Andy Jun Dae Woong (our male solo) and Alexandra Manktelow (assistant coach) were commended on their excellent skills and stage presence.
This is definitely a very encouraging experience and a good eye-opener for our students to compete against other talented local school groups in Hong Kong. Every year the competition gets fiercer and fiercer and we are looking forward to the new challenges next year.
