Future Pilot Training 2015

A team of 20 students from different DSS secondary schools joined the Future Pilot Training after nominations by their school principals and an intense interview selection. Three students from our school, namely Lavisha Ramesh Kumar Korani (4A), Cornelius Leung (4C) and Brendan Ha (4Y) were also selected to join the program which was jointly organized by the School of Aviation, University of New South Wales Australia and Hong Kong Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools Councils (DSSSC) from 18th July to 1st August in New South Wales, Australia. The expedition was led by our Principal, Mr. Dion Chen, one of the committee members of the DSSSC.

The program provided students with training in the theory and practice of aviation operations and management as well as aviation safety. They participated in a 5 to 8-hour flying session coached by experienced pilots and also engaged in a 4-hr across the country fly in a Diamond Aircraft 40 to have a taste of being a pilot.

To support and encourage whole-person development and all-round education, our school sponsored our students for part of the program fees, enabling them to have more exposure to an exciting experience and unleash their gifts and talents. It was an eye-opening and adventurous program which facilities the development of their interest and potential in the aviation industry.
