Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances 2015
On 1st November, our musicians were honoured to perform in the second year at the Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. This event was supported by the Consulate-General of various countries, which included music and dance of 16 Asian ethnicities. The stage was set at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza.
The Beat Club opened with a dynamic piece of world music beats on djembes. Then, the Chinese Instrumental Ensemble, which consisted of guzhengs (zither), erhu (fiddle), percussion, hulusi and dizi (flute), performed a traditional number Moon Over the Clouds (彩雲追月). This was followed by our award-winning singing group, Genesix, singing a couple of Tagalog folk songs. Finally, the Choir collaborated with the Beat Club djembe group for a piece inspired by the South African hymn Siyahamba.
We were glad for a successful performance and appreciated the parents who came and supported our musicians. Moreover, our performers were fascinated and inspired by the cultural performances of other groups representing various countries. We look forward to participating in the event again next year.
