Achievements in Music Performance
Two of our students got achievements in external music performances which they treasured as memorable and eye-opening experiences.
Musical: The Bluebird of Happiness
Alyssa Ramos (5K) starred as the lead character Mytyl in the sensational musical The Bluebird of Happiness, presented by MQ Musical Theatre, at Kwai Tsing Theatre in late October, 2015. Our students Cherie Guevarra (2K), Tasha Chew (2H) and alumni Ysabelle Jose were also involved in the chorus.
Alyssa first heard about the audition from her mother's friend, and was thrilled to be selected in this professional production. She always enjoyed having musical performances and the only challenge she faced was the intensive rehearsals. Rehearsals were usually during the weekends, but when it was two weeks away from the show, she started having rehearsals during school nights and got home at around 1 am. She thought that it was worthwhile because of her craze and enthusiasm about musical performances as well as the support from the production crew. Alyssa got her energy and hype from a very lively audience and the talented cast. Her dream career would be a performer on stage or behind the scenes as a director or producer in the show business industry.
Christmas Carolling with the Hong Kong Singers
Jasmine Kelly (5A) is passionate in singing, and she even performed her own compositions. A friend of her mother introduced her to the Hong Kong Singers. She decided to join their Christmas Choir.
As a new comer, she was grateful for the friendly members who patiently guided her through the repertoire. She did not mind the hard work at rehearsals, and had gained valuable experiences in teamwork and performance techniques. The Christmas performance was a success at the Grappa's (Central) on 14th December and it was for a good cause to raise funds for Food Angel.
