First Day of School

The YHKCC extended a very warm welcome to all students, and our new Form 1 students in particular, on the first day of school on Monday 23rd August.

Having been through the suspension of physical lessons and a prolonged period of online learning during the pandemic, we have all developed a new appreciation of the value of face-to-face teaching and learning in our community. Students wore their uniforms with pride and were full of energy after a refreshing summer holiday. Our new Principal, Ms. Diana Lo, was grateful to see cheerful, familiar faces at the gate and took photos with them. Students were excited to see one another and shared their latest updates, one again filling the campus with joy and laughter.

The first assembly was held in the school hall. Some students attended in person while other classes watched a live stream in their classrooms. Mr. Paul Williams, Mr. Edgar Carole and the worship band started the assembly with some worship songs and Mr. Peter Ho, the School Supervisor, shared a devotion with students and gave an inspiring speech. Ms. Diana Lo encouraged students to stand firm on the five core values, set high but realistic expectations for the year ahead and take full responsibility for their learning. Ms. Lo also shared our scripture of the year “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you” (Matthew 7:12) and reiterated the importance of our responsibility to serve one another in love. Last but not least, she motivated students to make sustained improvements and strive for excellence in all aspects of their school lives.

We wish all students a wonderful new school year ahead!
